Common questions

Wills & estate planning — the basics

How much does a will cost?

Our single wills start at £95 and mirror wills (for couples) at £160. Complex wills involving trusts, blended families or business interests are quoted on a fixed-fee basis after the free consultation, so you always know the price before you commit.

What happens if I die without a will?

You’d be classed as dying “intestate”, and the intestacy rules would decide who inherits — not you. Unmarried partners, stepchildren and friends inherit nothing under those rules, which is why even a simple will makes such a difference.

Do you come to my home?

Yes — home visits are our standard service and there’s no extra charge for them anywhere in the North East or North West. We also offer telephone and video appointments if you’d prefer.

Are you regulated?

Will writing in England and Wales isn’t a reserved legal activity, so it isn’t regulated in the same way as solicitors are by the SRA. We’re full members of the Society of Will Writers and bound by their Code of Practice and complaints procedure, and we carry £2 million of professional indemnity insurance for your protection.
